    Roots and Early Life

Burnt Offering was born in New Rochelle, NY, the third of five daughters, to parents of Native American Indian and African ancestry. She was raised in both AME and Baptist Christian traditions. From infancy, she never slept at night, staying awake until sunrise-a habit she still keeps as a lifelong night owl.

    Childhood Insights and Personality

At age 10, Burnt told her mother she would marry her cousin’s next-door neighbor in Delaware. Remarkably, his sister and Burnt were the same age and shared the same birthdate. A quick-witted Gemini, Burnt has a dark yet delightful sense of humor and a love for riddles, paradoxical poems, puzzles, and mind games, which she enjoys sharing with her sisters and friends. She always believed she could speak directly to God, viewing Jesus Christ as a middleman, though her grandmother insisted she maintain faith in Christ. After her father’s death at age 12, Burnt became more of a loner, embodying the “Wednesday’s child of woe” with typical middle-child syndrome.

    Love, Marriage, and Loss

Although once engaged to her high school sweetheart, Burnt eloped a year after graduation with her cousin's neighbor on April Fool's Day. At the time, he was serving in the Navy aboard a fast-attack submarine in Groton, CT. After leaving the Navy, they moved to Rockville, MD, but separated shortly before his unexpected death at Holy Cross Hospital. Six years later, Burnt married James, a brother in Christ at Mount Horeb Church, and had two children-a daughter and a son-before divorcing in 2004.

    Vision and Spiritual Awakening

In 1995, just weeks before the first Black Million Man March, Burnt received what she believes was her Native American Indian Vision. She remembers her mother calling to relay that Minister Farrakhan was echoing what Burnt had predicted weeks earlier. This experience transformed her beliefs and deepened her connection with God.
